Cambodia
Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world due to decades of war, massacres, and political turmoil. The direction the nation has been in the hands of illiterate farmer since the murderous Pol Pot regime executed nearly two million educated citizens in the 1970's.
Only 34% of the nation's population over 15 years of age is literate. Nearly half of the 11 million citizen are ages 14 and under, but the country's immense poverty forces most children to leave school at an early age to work in their family's rice paddies or at jobs that are often difficult and dangerous. For every 1000 children, only two will perservere until high school graduation.
IMPACT's aim is to join with local churches to pioneer preschools. Through our KIDS program we hope to educate Cambodia's next generation and affect the nation.
